Just a Clueless Mom
I only know that I know nothing, pretty much like Jon snow. Parenting is a very tricky endeavour specially since we live in the information era and all the information available contradicts one take after another. I have read books after books and blogs, articles, peer-reviewed research, psychology and philosophy theories. Mind you, nothing in too much depth or with great insight. I’m just a simple person trying to make informed decisions. I aim to break the cycle and raise kids that will adapt to their environment. Not write a dissertation on behavioural psychology. So take this blog with a grain of salt, for what it is, a bit of research on relevant topics and the personal opinion of a tired mom.
My conclusion, if I may spoil the ending of this blog, is that nobody has the absolute truth and each parent has a unique child that they must raise the best they can. I have my opinions and ideas based on my personal circumstances, background, values and beliefs. You have the same unique set of opinions and they are as valid as mine. Together we can lean on each other, for example: picture yourself not alone with a screaming baby but with millions of other moms tending to their own screaming babies. We can learn from each other, even if that means learning what not to do, that’s valid as well. But even in disagreement we should always respect and value each other.
Now, with that little bit out of the way, I can dig deeper into specific topics and share a general sense of what information is out there telling us about how we should parent our kids.
Disclaimer: I’m not a physician, psychologists, early childhood educator or really anything but a mom.
