Clueless Mother of Three

I only know that I know nothing — pretty much like Jon Snow. Parenting is a tricky endeavor, especially in the information era, where every piece of advice contradicts the next. I’ve read books, blogs, articles, peer-reviewed research, and bits of psychology and philosophy. Nothing in extreme depth or with great expertise — just enough for a tired, curious mom trying to make informed choices.

My goal is simple: to break the cycle and raise kids who can adapt to the world around them. I’m not trying to write a dissertation on behavioral psychology. So take this blog for what it is: a blend of light research on relevant topics and the personal opinions of a weary parent doing her best.

If I may spoil the ending, my conclusion is this: no one has the absolute truth. Every parent is raising a unique child, in unique circumstances, with their own values and beliefs. My opinions are shaped by my background and experiences; yours are shaped by yours. And they are all valid.

Picture this: you’re not alone with a screaming baby — you’re surrounded by millions of other moms tending to their own screaming babies. We can lean on one another. We can learn from each other — even if that sometimes means learning what not to do. Disagreement is fine; what matters is approaching each other with respect and understanding.

Now, with that out of the way, I can dig into specific topics and share a general sense of what the available information says about raising our kids.

Disclosures: I’m not a physician, psychologist, early childhood educator, or anything else official — just a mom.
